Introduction

If you’re craving the bold flavors of Outback Steakhouse, this homemade marinade recipe will help you recreate that delicious taste right in your kitchen. Perfect for any cut of steak, this marinade combines the rich flavor of Scottish ale with a blend of spices to enhance your meat’s natural taste. Follow this step-by-step guide to marinate and cook your steak to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Scottish ale (or a similar dark beer)
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar (for a touch of sweetness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon McCormick seasoning (or your favorite steak seasoning)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper (for a bit of heat)
  • 1/4 teaspoon MSG (optional, enhances umami flavor)

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Steak

  1. Choose Your Steak: Select your favorite cut of steak, such as ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon.
  2. Prepare the Marinade: In a shallow pan, place the steak and pour the Scottish ale over it, ensuring the meat is well-coated.
  3. Refrigerate: Cover the pan and marinate the steak in the refrigerator for 1 hour. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat, making it tender and flavorful.

Step 2: Prepare the Dry Rub

  1. Remove the Steak: After marinating, take the steak out of the ale and discard the marinade.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, McCormick seasoning, ground black pepper, and MSG (if using). This dry rub will add a delicious crust to your steak.

Step 3: Apply the Dry Rub

  1. Rub the Mixture: Generously apply the dry rub to both sides of the steak, ensuring an even coating for maximum flavor.
  2. Let it Rest: Allow the steak to marinate with the dry ingredients for 30 minutes. This step helps the flavors meld together.

Step 4: Cook the Steak

  1. Preheat Your Cooking Surface: Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat. This ensures a nice sear on the steak.
  2. Add Oil: Lightly coat the skillet or grill with vegetable spray or a small amount of vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook to Perfection: Place the steak on the hot surface and cook it to your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy:
    • Rare: 125°F
    • Medium Rare: 135°F
    • Medium: 145°F
    • Medium Well: 150°F
    • Well Done: 160°F

Step 5: Serve

  1. Rest the Steak: Once cooked, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy bite.
  2. Slice and Enjoy: Slice the steak against the grain and serve it with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Conclusion

Now you can enjoy a flavorful Outback Steakhouse-style steak right at home! This marinade and dry rub combination will elevate your steak to restaurant-quality levels. Perfect for family dinners, special occasions, or a weekend barbecue, this recipe is sure to impress. Enjoy your delicious creation!

Tips for Best Results

  • Experiment with Different Beers: While Scottish ale is recommended, feel free to try other types of beer for varied flavors.
  • Marinate Longer for More Flavor: If time allows, marinate the steak for up to 4 hours for an even deeper flavor.
  • Pair with Wine: Consider pairing your steak with a bold red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, to complement the rich flavors.

By following this recipe, you can bring the taste of Outback Steakhouse to your dining table. Happy cooking!

Hi there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using?
I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and
I’m looking for something unique. P.S My apologies
for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

Hi there! I appreciate your interest in our site and your question. To clarify, it’s essential to ask questions under your own name to maintain authenticity.

BlogEngine – Simple to set up and user-friendly, Limited features compared to others.
WordPress – Highly customizable and expansive, Can have a steeper learning curve.
B2evolution – Built-in features like multi-site support, Less popular, which means fewer themes.
Drupal – Powerful for complex sites, Higher complexity for beginners.

If you want a distinct layout, consider exploring themes or customizing your design no matter which platform you choose.

Right now it sounds like Drupal is the top blogging platform available right now.
(from what I’ve read) Is that what you are using on your blog?

Starting with Drupal was one of the best choices I made. I picked up skills, tinkering with my site, which I could transfer to client work later. And the experience was great. I find WordPress is one of the best platforms for blogging, but I don’t think we can ignore what Ghost could become.

I am really loving the theme/design of your website. Do
you ever run into any browser compatibility issues?

A small number of my blog audience have complained about my blog not working correctly in Explorer but
looks great in Opera. Do you have any solutions to help fix this problem?

Thank you for the compliment on the website design! Browser compatibility issues can arise, especially with Internet Explorer. Here are some quick solutions you can try:

      Quick Solutions:
      – Validate HTML/CSS: Use the W3C Validator to check for errors.
      – CSS Prefixes: Add vendor prefixes, like -ms- for Internet Explorer.
      – Fallback Styles: Implement simpler styles for older browsers.
      – Conditional Comments: Load IE-specific stylesheets when needed.
      – Testing Tools: Use BrowserStack or CrossBrowserTesting for thorough testing.
      – JavaScript Libraries: Consider using jQuery or polyfills for compatibility.

Gather specific feedback from your audience to target issues effectively. Let me know if you need more detailed help!
