*Note: Fruits marked with an asterisk should be dipped in lemon juice after cutting to prevent oxidation.

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Combine the chocolate and half-and-half in a heavy saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. Add Flavoring: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in your choice of liqueur or alternative flavoring (instant coffee or ground cinnamon).

  3. Serve the Fondue: Pour the chocolate mixture into a fondue pot or a chafing dish set over a water bath to keep it warm. You can also use a crock pot set on low to maintain the temperature.

Variation: Chocolate-Sour Cream Fondue

  • Substitute 1/2 cup of dairy sour cream for 1/4 cup of the half-and-half for a different flavor profile.
